Certificate of Destruction
Every job ends with a Certificate of Destruction: the document that proves your cargo was destroyed and lets you close the shipment with CBP, the carrier, and your client.
Why it matters
Without proof of destruction, an in-bond can stay open, a refusal case can’t be closed, and a carrier or forwarder has no record to show the client or insurer. The certificate ties the destroyed goods back to the BOL, container, and entry or in-bond number, so every party can close their file.
What the certificate includes
- Date and location of destruction (CBP-bonded facility)
- BOL, container number, and entry or in-bond number
- Description and quantity of goods destroyed
- Destruction method
- CBP supervision reference, where applicable
- Authorized signature
Supporting documents (on request)
- Weight tickets
- Photos and video of destruction
- Chain of custody log
